Northern California Romantic – Home Tour

Today we are visiting a beautiful northern California family home designed in an elegant and clean style. With a beautiful backyard garden setting and an uncomplicated elegant interior, this home is one to love!

This gorgeous space is home to my friend Laila, her husband and her three children in a suburban spot close to San Francisco. With an eye for design and a background in home renovating, they decided to settle into this space to work their magic on three years ago. The couple both come from large families and had always lived in big home, so simplicity was key. The living room above reflects that serenity.

Laila has carried the pale and interesting color pallet from one room to the next to create continuity. Cream performance fabrics and soft blues, bleached woods, metallic accents and texture are seen throughout. The family room is where the teens relax and life happens.

 “Now that everyones a little older, my husband and I wanted to simplify things. We’ve actually never lived in a smaller, single story home but it’s been wonderful! Life has also been a lot easier in terms of cleaning and it staying that way”. 

As they plan on making this their forever home, they’ve done lots of projects to make this their own. “The house was in it’s original state when we bought it with 1970’s everything! We felt like we surpassed that and looked at it as something with more value and potential…It’s kind of like finding a needle in the haystack.”

The kitchen is stunning and a base for working on an addition on this side of this part of the home. With a new kitchen nook planned, they will have more room to create memories with family and friends!

Laila sets a beautiful table and sources all of her home decor on her website. Subtle touches of pink accent this spring setting.

Sheer perfection in the master bedroom with soft creams, pinks, floral prints and textures on the bed.

And a knock your socks off garden setting that is enjoyed year round in Northern California! Laila says “finding a home with some acreage in California can be very hard to find. So we felt like we got lucky with this one. Even though its smaller home but it has a good size lot in a small town.”

The custom rock pool, covered gazebo and bridge create a cozy atmosphere for entertaining in this home that’s just perfect for them. Life is good and enjoyed!
