Showcasing a complete gut renovation of a 1957 Mid-Century Ranch, I’m sure this home will inspire y’all as it has inspired me.
Renovations can be difficult, no matter the budget or layout. Beyond updates, there’s a balance that’s not easy to strike. In a renovation project, one has to improve not just how the interiors look, but also add modern functionality without removing the home’s original character.
And that ain’t no easy trick to pull off!
Yet, designer Katie Severns shows us exactly how it is done. Before the revamp, the ranch had dated 90s Tuscan-inspired features that distracted from its original details.
But now? It has transformed into warm interiors; her design vision created spaces that feel intentional and welcoming, organic and serene, yet keep the soulful character of the original bones.

It perfectly balances modern clean lines with natural textures and organic elements while keeping things practical and functionality-driven. This home isn’t just pretty to look at—it’s meant to be lived in and loved every single day!
Living Room: Where Comfort Meets Style
Y’all, let me tell you about this living room! It’s the first space that greets you, and it sets the tone for the entire home. The space has been completely opened up
What was once a cramped and boxy layout is now completely open, with natural light flooding the room. Minimalist-style black-framed windows framed the amazing views, helping the greenery outside become part of the decor. This is a simple design choice that sets the tone, bringing the outdoors in—a hallmark of organic modern style.
If we take a peek at the furniture choices, we’ll see the coziness is everywhere thanks to the layered pairings. For example, just look at how the cognac leather chairs with the wood frames bring such warmth to the space.
Mixed with clean-lined upholstery in neutral tones and the sleek architectural details, there’s a perfect balance between modern and inviting.
That circular woven wall piece os simple jute rope is such a clever way to add texture and interest to the walls, don’t y’all think?
Notice how the designer kept the styling minimal—just enough pillows for comfort, a few plants for life, and thoughtfully placed decor items. Nothing feels cluttered or overdone, yet the space feels completely elevated and intentional.
Kitchen: The Heart of the Home
Moving into the kitchen—this space is a perfect example of a family-first design approach. Originally, there was a galley kitchen, but it was taken down to create this more airy space with an open concept.
The square zellige tiles in that soft sage color create the perfect subtle backdrop.
They add texture without overwhelming the space. Plus, paired with those stunning brass fixtures? Just stunning!
I’m absolutely smitten with that fluted wood island base topped with marble—such a beautiful mix of organic and refined shapes and elements.
The wooden bar stools echo the warmth of the island while keeping the space feeling cohesive.
Don’t miss those simple white dome pendants with wood details—they’re a perfect example of how to incorporate natural elements throughout the home without going overboard.
The kitchen flows right into that gorgeous dining area with the substantial wooden table and bench. I love how the designer mixed the wood tones with black-framed chairs for a bit of contrast.
What really makes this kitchen special is not just how lovely it looks, but how intentionally it’s designed for family life.
There’s plenty of storage hidden behind those beautiful cabinet fronts, the surfaces are durable and easy to clean, and there’s ample room for everyone to gather. It’s the perfect blend of style and real-life function!
Primary Bedroom: A Bold and Cozy Retreat
Y’all, I just have to share the primary bedroom with you because it’s such a stunning example of taking a design risk that absolutely paid off!
This room is proof that dark walls don’t have to feel cramped or gloomy.
Those deep charcoal walls create the most perfect cocoon-like feeling while making the crisp white bedding and natural textures pop beautifully.
I love the channel-tufted upholstered headboard—it adds such wonderful texture. And did you notice that gorgeous landscape painting?
The muted colors tie in perfectly with the room’s palette while bringing a sense of the outdoors in.
Primary Bathroom: Fluted Wood Meets Marble
Connected to the primary bedroom through a gorgeous fluted glass door is the spa-like bathroom. Talk about a transformation from the dated space it once was!
The star of the show has to be the stunning fluted wood vanity topped with marble. The combination of warm wood and cool stone creates such a beautiful contrast in the space.
Look at how the design repeats the square handmade zellige tiles from the kitchen, this time in crisp white. The slight variations in each tile catch the light differently throughout the day, adding subtle movement to the walls.
By positioning the vanity against the window wall, the light is maximized for daily routines and creates a beautiful view of the backyard.
The arched mirrors here are my favorites—they soften all the straight lines and bring a touch of unexpected femininity to the space.
And the brass wall sconces add just the right amount of warmth and vintage charm!
Little Extras That Make a Big Difference
One of my favorite discoveries in this home is this built-in bar nook nested in an otherwise unused corner of the dining area.
With fluted glass cabinet doors and navy blue frames, it’s a practical and chic space that ties in with the black-framed windows throughout the home.
The floating oak shelves with brass brackets display their collection of spirits and vintage glassware, turning everyday items into decor.
I love that abstract line drawing art piece too—it adds personality without competing with the space’s simplicity.
This little corner perfectly demonstrates the design approach to the entire home’s renovation—finding ways to add both beauty and function to every square inch.
The bar nook creates a designated spot for entertaining essentials while adding architectural interest to the room.

I just loved this home tour! The organic modern feel feels so refreshing. Each space flows into the next with consistent elements like the fluted wood details, brass accents, and organic textures, and yet every room has its own distinct personality.
