Beautiful Sanctuary Home Decor – House Tour
Sanctuary Home Decor is featured in today’s tour and as our home should be your sanctuary we hope that you’re inspired by this beautiful space designed with rustic elegance.
Out of the many homes that I have come across over the years, this is definitely amongst my favorites! Karen is an amazing designer and her Southern California home exudes elegant French style farmhouse charm. Her kitchen is dressed for fall in these shots with a gathering of leaves and pumpkins, copper kitchenware and a simple wreath on her grey range hood. This is a family home that is not short on style and includes functional double islands.
The kitchen is the heart of the home and there is ample space to spread out and do meal prep, hang out or work. The rustic wood beams juxtaposed against the oversized elegant pendants are picture perfect.
Sanctuary Home Decor Breakfast Nook
The breakfast nook is located on the other side of the kitchen. They made use of this petite corner with bench seating and storage, making it cozy as well as practical for their family.
Sanctuary Home Decor Family Room
The family room with warm rustic autumn accents. Karen shares great seasonal decor on both her blog and her Instagram account.
Sanctuary Home Decor Dining Room
Karen has softened up the feel of the dining room with a collection of white ironstone, a grey rug and white garden roses.
Sanctuary Home Decor Master Bedroom
Notice the flow of Karen’s decor from room to room with natural wood and neutral accent pieces used with restraint.
The exterior and gardens of Karen’s home is just as inspiring, sitting on an acre, just north of Los Angeles. Living in an equestrian community, they can ride our horses out the back gate and into open space. “We built this house five years ago knowing that we wanted to create a home that felt like a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of city life.”
The Exterior Spaces
Reminiscent of an English country home on the exterior, with flowers being a passion of Karen’s laid out beautifully in the gardens.
The couple designed a rustic yet romantic functioning barn at the back of the property.
Another outbuilding that the couple added is a flower studio for Karen. A sanctuary home decor place to play with her beloved flowers and dream!
The interior of the flower cottage. Karen says “Many of the finishes we chose came from our love of country living at our ranch in Montana, where we spend every summer. We used barn wood and reclaimed wood beams in many rooms, but also added more refined touches to create a rustic, elegant look. Our furnishings and décor are casual and comfortable, making it easy to put your feet up and relax.”
The Flower Studio
Well thought out planning and attention to detail is evident in all of Karen’s spaces. There are rustic touches like barn wood and yet elegant accents such as the herringbone floor pattern and vent covers. One can only imagine having a dedicated place to create with beautiful blooms!
“We entertain a lot and often have friends and family over for casual diner parties, so I have developed a love for setting beautiful tables, especially in the yard. My other love is gardening and flower arranging, so you will always find fresh (and sometimes faux) flower arrangements in our home.”
The charming pool area is another place to entertain and enjoy the southern California weather with family and friends.
I hope that you enjoyed this tour of Karen’s home and below is a little peek at her Montana ranch! For more, head over to Sanctuary Home Decor.

For once in my life I can say I’m not ready for fall yet. Our weather has been great but it’s my favorite time of year.
Yes she did and this tour was definitely worth re-sharing. I’m not ready for fall either Lory, but sometime in August I’ll have to jump on the train to share content:-)
A sanctuary for sure. And that flower studio – so beautiful. I loved it all.
A flower studio would be a dream for sure Annie!
