I’ve had the pleasure of following Ashley’s work for a long time, and her approach to design truly resonates with me… I suspect it will resonate with you too!
Based in Alabama, Ashley Gilbreath has cultivated a design aesthetic of a layered mix of different styles and eras. Her designs are casually elegant spaces with a traditional flair. Timeless, yet current. Modern, yet classic. The ideal mix, in my opinion!
In this edition, we’ll get inspired by some of the stunning creations that reflect the philosophy behind her brand.
Southern Decorating Charm
What really gets me about Ashley’s work is how she and her team at AGID just get what makes a house feel like home. They have a unique sensitivity for creating spaces where elegant interiors are the backdrop for the beautiful realness of life. I feel it truly sets them apart from other interior design firms.
“We set a stage for memories – it’s a stage made of emotion more than color and texture. We strive to curate a feeling, not just achieve an aesthetic.”
Ashley Gilbreath
That’s the magic touch that turns their designs from magazine-worthy to memory-making. And isn’t that what we’re all after in our homes?
You might recognize Ashley’s work from her popular southern decorating book, The Joy of Home or perhaps you’ve stumbled upon her curated collection of global-inspired home accessories at her retail store, Parish. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t already.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of their work and be inspired!
Designer Spotlight: Ashley Gilbreath Interiors Design
We’re in for a treat with interiors from Ashley’s Spring Hills project. The living room threads a mix of old and new that creates a lovely contrast, making the space pop.
Exposed wooden beams frame the space with rustic charm along with little details like the warm wood frames, but Ashley’s balanced them out beautifully with sleek and modern pieces, like the eye-catching chandelier.
The color palette is soft and serene – lots of creamy whites and warm neutrals. But did you catch those little pops of blue in the throw pillows and that cozy blanket draped over the sofa? So pretty!
The kitchen weaved in the same rustic touch but with a refined European farmhouse vibe to it.
That plate rack above the counter is absolutely charming. And the mix of materials – the warm wood of the lower cabinets with the crisp white uppers and that stunning marble countertop – it works beautifully in the composition of materials, colors, and textures.
The entryway it’s like a mini art gallery, but so much cozier. The way Ashley layered those landscape paintings is genius – it adds depth and interest without feeling cluttered.
And that little demilune table underneath? It’s the perfect spot for dropping keys or showing off a vase of fresh flowers.
In the Windward Lane project, there’s a dreamy southern decorating charm vibe with a dash of Palm Beach elegance that just works.
What makes this home sing is the consistent color palette throughout. The greens, whites, and natural wood tones flow from room to room, creating a sense of continuity that’s so soothing. It’s like design team took the colors of the beach – the sand, the sea, the palms – and woven them throughout the house.
The kitchen is an absolute stunner. The sage green window frames pop against the crisp white walls, framing all the space with a fresh look. Perfect for a beach house!
And can we talk about that woven furniture? The rattan bar stools and dining chairs add such wonderful texture and warmth to the space. It’s like bringing a bit of the outdoors in, which is always a win in my book!
The mix of textures in the bedrooms – from the smooth greens to the rattan furniture and lush textiles- is a masterclass in subtle color coordination. It’s full of little details that make a space feel cohesive without being matchy-matchy.
In this bedroom the soft green hues complemented with a darker green tint, rich wood tones and bronze accents is absolutely dreamy! It ties in beautifully with the Roman shade and the glimpse of green window frames we can see.
The floor-to-ceiling windows with green frames are the ideal backdrop for such a refined and casual living room. They perfectly frame the ocean view, blurring the lines between inside and out.
The mix of materials all htourghout the home is spot on – you’ve got the natural rattan furniture, soft upholstered chairs and sofas, and stunning wood pieces.
It all comes together to create a space that feels elegant, casual, and utterly livable!
In the Lake Martin home project, we see the beautiful mix of modern and traditional, sophisticated and rustic, fresh and cozy.
In the dining area, a statement chandelier serves as a focal point, its modern design juxtaposing beautifully with exposed beams and an accent wall dressed in rustic stone.
The cohesive color scheme, particularly the recurring touches of green used as a connecting thread, ties the all the roooms in this home together.
The kitchen showcases this balance perfectly: light wood cabinetry contrasts with a striking black marble backsplash, while brass accents add warmth.
In one the bedroom features muted olive-toned green walls, cocooning the space while balancing it with more modern and stream-llined furniture in black and crisp white.
Another uses a neutral palette with striped curtains, adding visual interest in a relaxed way.
Textural elements like white wood paneling, wooden wall decor, rattan and weathered wooden furniture reinforce the lake house theme.
In the Stagg Run home project, there’s a nuanced use of antiques, traditional elements that speak to beloved heritage, and modern touches balancing it all out gorgeously.
In the dining room, there are antiques -like the crystal chandelier- giving old-world grandeur, while the mix of dining chair styles and patterns introduces a more playfully stylish touch.
The wallpaper serves as a dramatic focal point. Isn’t just stunning?
In this living room, we can see AGID’s essence in full: Refinement meets comfort. Gilded frames and mirrors, pops of mustard and blue, artisan-inspired ceramic vases—they all add richness to the space. The overall effect is layered and luxurious, yet inviting.
The circular brass chandelier has a contemporary touch that makes the overall classic room feel up-to-date.
The striped curtains frame the windows elegantly, while the mix of artworks creates a curated feel.
In another seating room, a more intimate one, the distressed trunk coffee table adds character, contrasting beautifully with the more formal furniture pieces.
White cabinetry and marble countertops create a bright kitchen, while the darl teal island adds a splash of color.
Gold-toned lantern pendants and hardware introduce a little bit of sparkly warmth. Rattan bar stools bring in natural texture, softening the sleek surfaces and adding a casual and rustic contrast.
The design team skillfully combines textures in this here—grasscloth wallpaper, smooth cabinetry, and glass shelving, creating a multi-dimensional look.
The teal cabinetry adds a bold pop of color, which looks amazing paired with warm brass accents.
What ties all these spaces together is AGID’s knack for blending elegant touches with comfort. Their designs make a home that tells a story – and makes you want to be part of it!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this designer spotlight feature and found some inspiration—or maybe even a new appreciation for elements in your own home.
