Spring Decorating Looks For Relaxing At Home

Please scroll all the way down, as my talented friends are sharing their SPRING HOME TOURS today as well!

It often starts for me with a bouquet of flowers as my inspiration for a seasonal look. This particular bouquet was gifted to me by my daughter, which of course gave it special meaning. As you know I’m not normally one for yellow, but it just said SPRING and was beautifully arranged. So I went with it and set the table in the dining area.

This setting was for my birthday dinner as February was about to draw to a close. With spring on the horizon I set it with my antique French ironstone and left the flowers on the table for a couple of weeks beyond. The lilies smelled like heaven and that’s a flower which tends to last for a long time!

Purple and yellow may not be the most relaxing colors, but they pair well as spring decorating looks.

Soft decorating shades are my favorite iteration all throughout my home. Those shades in themselves are relaxing and with a neutral ground, they mix well with all pastels. I brought in a couple of vintage painted stools that usually sit under the side of the kitchen island, just for color.

See how the color continues across the room? Movement of color creates a flow, just like in a painting. I believe that color should flow from room to room, throughout the home.

With the living room in close view,  the spring decorating looks are still soft…but flow to pink and blue.

Spring Decorating Looks In The Living Room

Of course the flowers on the dining room table won’t last all through the spring, but the look in the living room will stay.

A quick change to THIS RUG, a few pillows, faux cherry blossoms and a favorite peony painting. I’ll be sourcing as much as I can at the end of this post, so keep scrolling!

The pink peony painting is from the fabulous artist Melissa Lyons. Find her artwork here – Melissa Lyons Art.

I just received another piece of art from my friend Melissa Lyons. I’m so in love with this piece that she created for me from some photos of wedding bouquets that I sent her!

One of the ways that I give new seasonal looks to the bedrooms is by changing out the linens and what I hang over the bed.

Color inspiration came from these flowers that I talked about HERE

See more of Melissa’s paintings HERE. I know that you’ll love them as much as I do!

  1. Beautiful arrangement of flowers! You may just have left the lily’s stamens on for the photo but be sure to carefully remove them now because the pollen will drop and stain anything it touches. Have a lovely day!

    1. Yes they do, but they smell so irresistible!

    1. They are such a lovely and perhaps underutilized flower!

  2. So pretty as always Janet! All the fresh flowers make it so springy, and can I say, those faux cherry blossoms are amazing!! They look so real (might have to go get those!) 😉

    1. Thanks Sheila! I love the real thing, but we don’t have cherry blossom trees in So FL!

  3. That new painting is stunning and goes so perfectly with your style! Can I call it modern romantic? I just love it and how you utilize the look in all of your rooms!

    1. That painting is prettier in person…hard to capture the depth of layering in a photo!

  4. Love the sweet painting Janet. So pretty. Where did you score those beautiful lamps in your bedroom? I am looking for something like that for my new bedroom design. xoxo
