I had been gathering inspiration for several years up until this point, from Pinterest, Instagram, and other bloggers’ projects. And finally, it was time to tackle this project! I first started with a moodbord.

As you can see it was very beige with undertones of peach on the tiles and lots of huge mirrors on the walls.

The Before

I have stayed in several upscale hotels over the years and the sleek and luxe look of white marble, porcelain tile and upscale look of polished chrome fixtures speak to me, so I used it as the main inspiration.

The Inspiration

Demo of any room in your home is exciting but can be inconvenient. With so much to tear out, it around took two days.

The Process

After adding plastic sheeting over the cabinets for protection, we began by removing all of the tile, the tub and toilet. We also had to open up some of the wall to reroute the plumbing for the tub and shower.

After demolition comes the exciting part of seeing it all come together for the budget bathroom luxury hotel look! First comes the cement board and then the tile.

One of the elements that I designed into the new space was a shower seat. A definite must was a non slippery surface!  I selected a 11 in. x 12.687 in. x 6 mm porcelain mosaic tile for the shower floor.

We designed the walls with the tile going all the way up to the ceiling in the tub area. We used large format tiles that look like marble but will not etch and water stain as marble does.

We had the shower door custom made.  This was a large expense but worth every penny!
