The Gift Of Flowers At Home
The gift of flowers at home. Whether treating yourself to grocery store flowers or adding a floral pillow, there is something about flowers that brings such joy! See some ideas for brightening up your own decor with flowers and gift ideas to spread joy.
There truly is nothing as joyous as a vase full of fresh flowers. When I bring florals into my home it makes me want to do handsprings of happiness! Since I haven’t been going to my favorite local source for flowers (Trader Joes) lately I decided to treat myself to fresh flowers online.
My love of flowers runs deep into childhood. I have fond memories of asking mom if I could clip roses from the bushes in the garden for my room. Sometimes I would create a bouquet for her with whatever was outside, just to invoke a smile! As some of you know, my mom passed away a couple of years ago. If you’re fortunate enough to have your mom still in your life surely the gift of flowers would be appreciated!
Back in the Victorian era, gifts of floral arrangements and plants were used to send a secret message. Flowers would express feelings that were banned to spoken aloud by society’s morals! Specific flowers all had their own meaning, as noted in The Language Of Flowers. A white rose stood for innocence and secrecy, whereas a yellow chrysanthemum noted slighted love and a yellow carnation symbolized total rejection. All so fascinating in contrast to the present era of the gift of flowers clearly appreciated on its own merit.
The Gift Of Flowers At Home
A gift for myself, because…why not! I ordered my fresh flowers from Farmgirl Flowers (not sponsored). They were transported just as shown on their site in a burlap wrapped bouquet. Absolutely lovely, but I decided to split up the bouquet and divide into three festive arrangements. These GORGEOUS handmade ceramic vases from my friend Lauren Haskell are ideal vessels to showcase these blooms!
Explore her website here … LO HOME. I just LOVE Lauren’s pale aesthetic, and these best-selling color block motif vases make perfect gifts or decor for any occasion! Each is hand-painted by Lauren or a Lo Home artist before being fired for a beautiful and durable finish, which is food and water safe. Made in the US, a sustainable living website and the price point is excellent. Find Lauren’s vases HERE.
I also received this set of classic GINGER JARS from Lauren in my signature palette of pale matte blue! Since these are all hand made you won’t find anything like this elsewhere! You can incorporate the jars into your vignettes as they are, or use as floral containers. I’ll be sharing more of these ginger jars soon.
Faux Florals At Home
Clearly it’s not always possible to have fresh flowers at home. On the other hand there is such a wide variety of beautiful faux flowers available. The quality has greatly improved the last few years! Besides being something that you can whip out at any time, they make a thoughtful gift. My mom actually preferred faux flowers because unlike the real thing, they did not die (her words!).
These are unusual times. Shipping is often delayed these days, but do consider the gift of flowers. Also, patience please and remember that businesses are stressed. We are separated from loved ones and indeed it’s more important than ever to shower those we love and appreciate. Don’t forget to include daughters, grandmothers, aunties as well as any other mother figures in your life. I believe every woman close to us deserves to be celebrated and honored!

I loved the aqua sprinkling can with a bouquet of pink flowers inside. I would love to have a picture of it on my wall inside of the frame that I have at home, but without the happy Mother’s Day writing on it. Also a bigger size. Is this ever available to order?
