Luxe Fall Decorating With Velvet

Luxe fall decorating with velvet is one of this year’s top trends for home decor. In this post I’m sharing my living room decorated for the fall season and tips for that will help you get a start on your autumn decor.

When I think about decorating for fall each year, my first decision is accent color. Having a neutral interior makes it so easy to change out seasonal design! For this autumn I decided to keep things consistent with blue used throughout my home. The blue is darker than in summer, so the change is quite dramatic! See my summer home tour here

As you can see out the window, it’s pretty tropical here. That’s pretty much always the case, so luxe fall decorating with velvet is a great way to bring in the cooler feels. Darby and Bartley love to sit up on the marble window seat and watch the world go by! Sadly, we just had to put Bartley on heart medicine and most likely Darby will follow suit soon. The Cavaliers are now 8 1/2 years and heart disease is typical for this breed. We enjoy every single day with these loves and will try not to focus on that too much. But I digress…here are some things I’ve been seeing for fall this year in my research…

Fall Trends For This Year’s Interior Decor:

  • Velvet
  • Tarnish and brushed brass and gold
  • Layers of textures
  • Dried and preserved flowers and branches
  • Candles and lanterns
  • Warm, earthy tones
  • Animal prints
  • Chunky knits
  • Wicker and rattan

A simple wicker table with a caned tray on top holds a glass vase with dried preserved stems. I love the feminine shape of this table, which is new! Find the table HERE and the tray HERE.

I must admit that I’m a bit obsessed with velvet pumpkins and have been a collector for years now! This year my sweet friend Chris Ann over at Love Feast Shop gifted me a fresh batch that carries out this luxe fall decorating with velvet scheme. If you are looking for the best quality velvet pumpkins there is a huge difference. I can’t recommend Love Feast Shop highly enough and it’s a small female owned business with a physical store in Minnesota.

Candles with gold glass containers on a golden tray. Here’s a tip…if you purchase candles that are in pretty decorative containers, save the containers once the candle is done! Put them in the freezer to remove the old wax (you may already know this) and use a small votive in it’s place.

Pillows were changed out for the luxe fall decorating with velvet design. I moved this stunning oversized print to the wall on the left side of the mantel to balance out the display on the right.

  1. omg, Janet, I may never forgive you. 🥴 I just spent way too much time at the Love Feast site. I always have liked your velvet pumpkins – but, egads! 🤯 My mind is blown by the velvet and feathers – and the persimmons! 🤪 I need a natural set and a Viking purple set and I also would like a collection of the ice blue and platinum panne velvet ones. 😱 I need a stiff drink.

    Thanks for sharing – I think. 🤣

And – as always – your house looks terrific!!!

    1. Aren’t those feathers ahhhmazing! I have some of those in pink, but not putting them out this year. As always….thanks for stopping by my friend!

  2. Your house looks wonderful Janet. You use similar colors that I use for the fall. I have to mix in that blue as my hydrangeas are still blooming outside so I blend that inside as well.
I saw the Love Feast pumpkins last year and oh they do a beautiful job at creating them in all shades. Seeing the price made me rethink and so I made my own velvet ones last year. I may try to make some darker brown velvet ones like you have ..too cute!!
Sorry to hear about Bartley and Darby. It is the golden years for them but oh what a joy they give us. Our Augie goes to have his cardiac ultra sound next week. My fingers are crossed that he doesn’t have any major valve damage like Bella B did. We are in search of an older Cavalier to comfort Augie. Hard to find.
Enjoy this season. Winter days are coming:0)

    1. Thank you so much Lori and I know that the velvets are pricey, but these are so worthwhile. As for the Cavaliers, it’s truly heartbreaking. Our Cavvies are siblings and it will be so hard when one finally goes first. I wish that we didn’t have to wait until the end of this year to get an appt with the cardiologist, but the only one in Miami is so booked up. Sigh…
xo to you and your pups

  3. I loved your Fall decor but I have to admit I was stopped by your sweet Cavaliers. We also have a 8.5 year old Cavalier named Catie (Lady Catherine) and we just had to put her on heart medication as well. It is so hard to think about losing these sweet companions. Anyway….I’m sure we both hope and pray their little lives will last a few more years. Take care.

    1. Thank you Toni and I’m sorry to hear about Catie. These meds can prolong their lives…I’ve had a previous Cavalier that they helped. Prayers for our pups and thank you…xo

  4. Covet your pumpkin collection; they are awesome. I never thought of blue/orange/white as a combo, but you have used it stunningly! Prayers for your pooches!

  5. Emily North says:

    Janet,
I love your pumpkins!! You turned me on to those a few years ago. I ordered the plain velvet last year and added my own feathers and jewels and want to get some more and do the same this year. I want to send you a picture of a very large one that I bought and it is a centerpiece on my kitchen table. It mimics McKenzie Child with beautiful feathers. I had to put to sleep one of my cavaliers on Labor Day, he was my pride and joy. This one suffered from kidney disease so it’s been a rough few weeks. The lady above that is looking for an older cavie, we adopted a 10 old in May from the Cavalier Rescue of Florida. She is welcome to contact me for information. Thanks always for the beautiful inspiration.

    1. Hi Emily! Your pumpkin sounds lovely and I’m so terribly sorry about your Cavalier. We put in to possibly adopt an older Cavalier last week that is being fostered close by and will see what happens. Have a great week!
