Modern Farmhouse Decor | The Style Showcase 99

Modern farmhouse decor is definitely trending and a style that I would embrace if and when moving entered the picture for us. We talk about it perhaps in the next couple of years and would love to live where there is more of a change of season. Modern farmhouse design was not something that you would normally see in Miami, up until recently. With the younger generation of homebuyers I do see a subtle shift. The popular Tuscan style and McMansions are giving way to new homes with some elements of modern farmhouse decor.

How do you define a modern farmhouse decor style? It’s not the country style on steroids look of the 80’s that some of use embraced. Think minimal low key elegance mixed with rustic and a relaxing vibe. Grounding in white with key architectural elements of black window frames, beamed ceilings and industrial fixtures. Less is definitely more and did I say minimal and tchotchke free? Yes…pared down and yet far from basic with emphasis on details, as in all good design. Three recent home tours showed beautifully pared down modern farmhouse style, each with individuality. See those below, other images via Pinterest.

What draws you into the room above? For me it’s the blue and white in the furniture and rug that leads into the whitewashed brick fireplace. Beautiful and contemporary and easy elegant living at it’s best.

Shiplap walls and again that cool palette of blue and white with black grounding accents.

Yes…a French stove is perfectly at home in a modern farmhouse kitchen! Add in some industrial lighting and rustic beams and you get the idea.

Clean and contemporary with lots of light pouring in to these “good bones.” I see a project in my near future here once the flooring is done that we are working on! Any guesses as to what that might be?

Beautiful home…not only is that kitchen stove amazing, but the pearlescent backsplash is to die for!

    1. I love this one as well….so many lovely vintage pieces incorporated!

  2. I’ve done a great deal of paring down since the early days of my over-the- top Shabby Chic look. Got rid of my patterned sofas and replaced with white denim slipcovers, removed most of the tchotchkes etc. However, there are still some things I still like from that time. How do I incorporate my white, metal candelabra with hanging crystals into my pared down look. Sigh.

    1. It’s always great to pare down Paula and in fact I’ve spent the better part of this weekend doing that myself. If you keep what you love, like the candelabra…just use it! Don’t be afraid to use what speaks to you in your home!
