Here we are with another edition of the chatty Morning Musings. I hope that you’re finding this series enjoyable, even though the time gets away from me and I don’t do them as often as I’d like. Let’s get right into it with an abbreviated version of what I’ve been up to and everything else in-between! A peek at my moodboard for the home office makeover below. Some things have changed and some have not…will share the full reveal soon!
LET’S GET PERSONAL
One of the reasons that I haven’t posted much new content lately is an issue that we’ve been having in the house. We had been noticing the LVP flooring starting to bow and warp in 3 of the bedrooms (we have 4 bedrooms here) and it had been getting worse. One of the bedrooms is my home office, another is my husband’s office (and home gym) and the 3rd is one of our daughter’s rooms. It had only been 2 years since they were installed and they were under warranty, so I was able to get a replacement. That meant removing EVERYTHING from the rooms ONCE AGAIN and what a pain that was 😫 Imagine our surprise when the installers came to do the removal and we found the cause to be water under all of the flooring! 😱 Apparently the original installers didn’t put a vapor barrier down first and here in South Florida it’s a must. We had the floors sealed and a vapor barrier put down this time and I’ll share the new floors with you soon! They are a wood laminate and look gorgeous, so I’m happy and that fiasco is mostly behind us now…save a bit more to do in my husband’s office.
WHAT I’M LOVING IN DECOR
The fact that we needed to take everything out of those rooms gave me the impetus to redecorate my office. I am so pleased with the look and will write a complete post soon! Just waiting on a few things, new window treatments and an ottoman that I ordered. The style is an updated transitional high/low collected look with colors that coordinate well with our coastal home. Hope that makes sense! Meanwhile, here’s a snippet of the new sofa bed with Darby enjoying it while I work 🐶 By the way, she likes to dig and make a nest for herself on the furniture. I took a soft blanket that I already had of almost the same color. Then I cut it in half and serged the open seam. Now we have two blankets for Darby and I put one on a sofa in the family room!
WHAT I’M WEARING
The other day I shared this Spring Fashion Guide and you all seemed to love the post! If you haven’t yet checked that out, please do. Most of the fashion comes from my Amazon storefront and some of the pieces are specifically from their new The Drop Shop. They have lots of fun fashion coordinated by influencers and you can sign up via that link to learn when a new drop happens.
BEAUTY PRODUCTS I’M USING
With all of the DIY (2 new projects coming soon!) and cooking, sadly my hands are sans a manicure. I do keep this hand salve close by at all times and it’s on sale right now. I find this Himalayan Pink Salt Liquid Hand Soap to be quite mild and nourishing to my busy hands and always keep a jar of it at every sink. On to the face…and recently I was treated to a facial at the Elemis Spa and discovered this Elemis marine collagen wrinkle cream and highly recommend it. I’ve also been using the soothing Elemis Collagen Eye Treatment and can see why the ratings are so good!
WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING
It was a quiet Easter weekend here with just the two of us. I made a really scrumptious vegan spinach lasagna and some garlic rolls and a decadent vegan chocolate mousse pictured below. Yum! Are you interested in me posting some of the vegan recipes that I make? Honestly I feel like I spend half my life in the kitchen, but the results of cooking and eating this way are so worthwhile. Do I cheat? Sure! Every few weeks we order pizza from a favorite place that delivers and it obviously has cheese. While I talked about losing weight this way in this post, I’m fairly stable now and just enjoy and feel good about the lifestyle!
WHAT I’M WATCHING
As a nature lover I’ve been enjoying the new series on Netflix called Our Great National Parks. It’s narrated by President Obama and he has a velvet voice. I also caught up on the newest season of Call The Midwife. Have you seen this series yet? It’s a charming BBC period drama about a group of nurse midwives working in the East End of London in the late 1950s and 1960s. If you have HBO Max (we do as part of our Xfinity plan) then don’t miss Julia and see the trailer here. “Julia is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, “The French Chef,” which pioneered the modern cooking show.”
COMING SOON
I’m still working on this piece, but it was in my husband’s office (belonged to his parents) and has a hidden surprise inside! I’m giving it a total transformation, so watch for the DIY soon!
Skipping this section because I’ve been too busy to be on “the gram” for the last couple of weeks! 🤦♀️

Can we have some of your vegan recipes from this post
Love the floors Janet, canāt wait for the furniture DIY reveal!
I would love some vegan recipes that you recommend. Your dog looks so cozy and peaceful on that couch. My cat likes to nest on my throw too.
Can you tell me what brand your LVP flooring was? We built a house inNorth Carolina and put Kortec plus hd and so far so good.
I would say that it was totally the fault of the installers that HD contracted out in this case Diane, not the flooring itself.
Call the midwife is a great watch!
Looking forward to your big reveal, Janet.
