Project Plans, Fall Ideas & Sources, Apple Recipes & More! – Musings 17

Welcome to Morning Musings once again, a personal post that I share from time to time with a little bit of this and that! The format may change slightly, depending upon what I have to talk about. So grab a cup of coffee ☕️ and join me!

LET’S GET PERSONAL

This week I’m getting caught up on some blog work behind the scenes, as there is so much to creating this platform that you don’t see! My husband and I are starting a new DIY project this weekend that I’ll share in October and it’s something that can be used in a variety of styles and rooms. I’m trying to get my husband more involved in my blog, which is taking gentle coaxing. He has such a wealth of knowledge to share as a general contractor and I know that you all would find this useful! First up is an article that he is working on (and I will need to tweak;-)) so will see how that goes. Any questions or suggestions that you might have can be left in the comment’s below.

WHAT I’M LOVING IN DECOR

The rug in our family room has had it 🙈, between the dogs and everything that goes on in such a busy traffic area. I just ordered this rug in the palest blue and brown and made of microfiber that works with my allergies.

If you’re finally on full on fall mode, these adorable pumpkins were one of the biggest sellers last week in my Amazon shop! Also for fall, you’ve been buying this set of gold glass candle holders (candles included!), this large wood bowl that I showed you in a fall styling, and these always incredible David Austin Roses that I featured in that post as well. Treat yourself…they are having a sale right now and you deserve roses!

As always, you can find my favorite picks in my Amazon Storefront here and I update it daily!

WHAT I’M WEARING

When I’m not in workout wear and go out and about, you’ll almost always find me in black and white. It’s so easy to mix and match and to build a staple wardrobe with black and white…along with jeans (I have and love these boyfriends jeans) of course! I’ve been shopping a sale this week that is offering buy one/get one at half off. This turtleneck sweater is a best seller classic, as well as this slimming poplin vertical striped shirt. For slimming slacks you can’t be jeggings like these and   . Are you a curvy woman? As a child I can recall going shopping with my mom who was curvy and it was difficult for her to find proper fitting garments. There are thankfully so many choices now such as these popular leggings on sale, and this essentials open front cardigan and then this stunning romantic evening dress! In fact Amazon Fashion has an entire shop devoted to the fit and beauty of curvy women!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I’M USING

I love a soak in my tub and with this French lavender foaming bubble bath, all the better! As for facial products, I have found that retinol is truly a fountain of youth and have been using it for years. This retinol brand is new to me and so far, so good with no irritation whatsoever. Vitamin C is another must for mature skin and this serum is a good one to add to your regimen.

WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING

I’ve been eating vegan for several years now and honestly don’t see going back to eating animal products ever in the future. The only thing that I do allow myself to have on occasion is seafood, since we live in a coastal community and it’s such a part of life here. It’s Florida lobster season and friends with a boat recently brought some over for our freezer. That being said…it’s unofficially fall and I love to bake with apples! Here are some tempting apple treats to make this weekend!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING

I’m not sure how I missed this movie up until now, but The Notebook with Ryan Gosling was re-released on Netflix this past week. What a tear jerker, especially if you have (or have had) family members suffering with dementia. It was a book first written by a favorite author of mine, Nicholas Sparks and was based on the lives of his grandparents. Watch this one! If you’re obsessed with history of the monarchs (as I am) there’s a new series over on Starz called The Serpent Queen. It’s based on the story of Catherine de Medici who, against all odds, became one of the most powerful and longest-serving rulers in French history. Starz releases their series one episode a week (mildly annoying) and the first episode has me hooked!

Also, head’s up that the amazing interior designer Suzanne Kasler has a new book that just released this week! I have my copy of this new coffee table book titled Edited Style and although I’ve only had the chance to flip through it is beautiful indeed! Find it here and learn from her thoughts on editing and refining one’s style. I would say that it’s a must have!

I’m planning on some edits to our primary bedroom for next year and this is giving me all the feels! Looking to possibly add this peel and stick grasscloth wallpaper on the wall behind our bed that is similar to this one. We used it to build this diy console table that is a major star in our home when someone walks in and sees it! I have a closet idea for this room and hope that it comes to fruition and I’ll definitely share more soon.
