Sad News, Color I’m Craving For 2022 – Morning Musings 4

It’s been a bit rough here lately, but I wanted to start out this post on a positive note and wish you a happy 🎄holiday season 🎄

LET’S GET PERSONAL

My darling beautiful boy – RIP dear Bartley, who fought hard with the dreaded heart disease that far too many Cavalier King Charles Spaniels 🐶 endure as this breed is simply overbred. He would have turned 9 in February and that was just not meant to be. He really was struggling to breathe lately and after a couple of trips to the emergency room and much great care at home, it was time to let him go.

We are heartbroken 💔 over here, as you can imagine. His sibling Darby is a comfort to us (she’s quite sad too), as is our very old Maltese Toby. Our family is all together here at our home for the holidays, so that helps as we remember all of his good times.
Bartley was special…the sweetest and kindest soul, leader of the pack, so smart, my constant companion all day long, loving, and our best furry friend. 😭 Gosh we miss you and gave you the best life that we could have 😭

WHAT I’M LOVING IN DECOR

I added more color than usual to my holiday home this year and have been enjoying it immensely! If you want to catch up, see this post, this one and this post! Spend a few moments looking and get some ideas for yourself! I’ll be writing a post soon about decorating, remodeling and DIY plans for next year, but for now…pillows!

As I think ahead and plan for our home in 2022 , I might tiptoe into the color green as an accent! Earlier this year I had this post specifically about millennial green and if I do a delve into green dance it will be with decorative pillows first. A few favorites are posted below…scroll and tap on the images for more info or to shop the look!

WHAT I’M WEARING

Loungewear is what you’ll generally find me in at home unless I’m going out. If you choose classic lounge pieces you can dress them up with a jacket, perhaps a scarf and some booties and wear them out…all depending.
We are finally planning some travel ahead for early 2022 (if things go smoothly) and what I’m wearing has to be 3 things. Fashionable, up to date and comfortable! Many of my favorites are from Chicos and they are not your mama’s or grandma’s looks any longer! My own mother-in-law introduced me to shopping at Chicos years ago and the styles are definitely updated from back then. I’ve picked some current favorites below and their sizing is so simple!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I’M USING

My hair is the type that has to be washed almost daily, especially when I spend a lot of time outdoors. My stylist recommended this shampoo (for colored hair). With the holiday season I’m trying to do my nails, at least when we go out. Just picked up this shade of OPI, which is so feminine and wears well. If you haven’t yet worn a facial mask while sleeping, it’s a wonderful way to treat and hydrate your skin. My daughter recommended this one and it’s so soothing and refines the pores while you sleep.

WHAT I’M COOKING & EATING

With our adult kids here at the moment I’ve definitely been cheating and it doesn’t help that we’ve received quite a few huge gift baskets of food from business associates! To help me stay on track with my 50/50 plate (half veggies/half starch) I batch cook and my Breville Air Fryer Pro is (hand’s down) THE BEST appliance in my kitchen! It does everything a regular oven does and I’ve been using it to bake holiday cookies and cakes. If you don’t have one, ask Santa for it. You are welcome! 😉

WHAT I’M WATCHING

I know what you’re thinking, but as this is set in 1750 London when women had no rights or money of their own, check out the series on Hulu called Harlots. It’s quite well done and a look into the harsh realities of life in that era. On the other end of the spectrum I’m watching Succession on HBO, which is quite good.

INSTAGRAM LOVE

I have to be honest that I haven’t been on Instagram since Bartley passed this life a week ago Sunday. But you might like to see this post and find some beautiful Instagram holiday decor!

WHAT YOU MAY HAVE MISSED

This is one of my most popular table setting posts and is from Christmas a few years back. See more eye candy here. Until next time…

That mitral valve in this breed is just a fault they’ve tried to remedy all these years but can’t. We love the breed too Janet. I’m hoping that this season of Christmas keeps you busy with family to help ease your pain.

  19. Janet so sorry for this great loss. I have been where you are and know that heartbreak. I always say time does not make the loss go away but it has a special way of making it more tolerable as days continue without them. He was such a sweet little fur baby and now is a fur angel. Glad your family is here for the holidays to help as you navigate your grief. I am so sorry. xoxo

  25. My heart breaks for you. We lost our little Gracie this year and I understand the empty feelings you have without your dear little friend. And it’s true as someone stated here that time doesn’t make the feeling of loss disappear but eventually we can remember them with laughter and not tears. I hope that one day we will be reunited with all our little pets and be able to hug and love on them again. Sending love and comfort to you and your family.

  26. I am so very sorry for your lost of Bartley. It is so hard to let them go. Each pet we have is like family, and they are so precious. Sending comfort to you and yours.

  27. Janet~ My heart feels your pain. I lost my Cavalier “Rookie” at age 9 1/2 to heart disease as well. The pain is a measure of our love and boy, they are so easy to love. Hugs to you, Darby and Toby.

  28. So sorry for the loss of your family member. RIP Bartley.

  29. Gay Bofill says:

So very sorry your Special Friend is gone. His picture is adorable and I’m sure he loved you very much. My husband and I had to put down our dear boy about a year and a half ago. I am still in mourning. He was my baby and my best friend. We understood each other completely. I miss him terribly and do not want to get another dog even though everyone says I should…but I don’t think I can bear another loss.
Hope your memories of him warm your heart.

  30. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Bartley. I just said good-bye to my sweet Boston Jack, the end of October. It’s the hardest thing to have to let them go, even though we know that’s best. Time will heal your heart but it will always hurt. Remember those wonderful moments you had with him, all the times he made you laugh and smile, it will warm your heart and make your feel better. He’s having fun now and is healed of his pain. Until you meet again, he will be waiting. 🐾❤

  31. my heart aches for your loss….. i know that bartley had a wonderful life as your “child”….. we lost our precious lucy this year, after doing everything medically possible to save her…. it was just her time…. i could see it in her eyes…….we don’t do well when our house is dog-quiet…. so we rescued a husky from a puppy mill who was starving from neglect…. and needed an overabundance of love…. no one will ever replace our lucy and what she meant to us, but our new girl, macy, has helped to mend our hearts…. may your sadness be lifted by wonderful stories and memories of your sweet bartley……

  32. So saddened to hear about Bartley’s passing . May the Lord give you His peace , especially as we remember the Prince of Peace during this season .

  33. Dear Janet,
I am so very sorry to hear of sweet Bartley’s passing. I hope you are comforted in knowing you gave him an incredible life! He was so loved and so well cared for. God bless you and your family during this sad time.
