This home tour is just full of cozy charm from my friend Martha from the Instagram account named Simple Cozy Charm. I first met her there and was immediately drawn in to her sweet style and think that you will be too! Make sure to visit both her Instagram account and her blog to see and learn more about her family home and all of her projects!

A home does not have to be grand in style or massively large to be beautiful. These days many of us are focusing on getting cozy and I hope that you take some tips from Martha’s photos.

Let’s get started touring with Martha leading the way…

Simple Cozy Charm Home Tour

“I grew up on a farm and presently live approximately 15 miles from where I was born and raised in the heart of midwest farm country.  After my husband and I started our family, we knew we wanted to be near both our parents, so we moved back to his home town which is where we still reside.”

“We built our three bedroom, 2 bath Wausau home in 1997/98 and turns out it was the best decision. My husband started a new job in 2001 that would have him traveling all around the world.  So, being close to family while raising our 2 daughters was a Godsend.”

“Fast forward to 2005, we built on an addition while awaiting the birth of our third daughter. We added more room to our master bedroom, two additional bedrooms, another bath and a half, and a partial finished basement.”

“I definitely wouldn’t describe our ranch home as anything special or fancy, but we have worked hard to make it warm and welcoming inside and out.”

“Two of the bedrooms in the original part of the house are now separate office spaces for Glenn and I. We shared one space for a couple of years, but it was way too cramped with the office furniture and HOT with all the equipment. Separating the two spaces also allowed for us to utilize both rooms as extra space for guests.”

“I began digging deeper into design when I began my blog, Simple Cozy Charm, the fall of 2015. Our oldest daughter left for her freshman year of college, and this was a way I knew I could curb the anxiousness that came with the first born leaving the nest.”

“Boy, have I learned a lot these past five years. Little did I know the impact a huge home decor community via the internet would have in my life.  Sharing our home with the world has been very rewarding. Not only have I learned so much about home decorating, but have been able to share my gift of creativity with others. I have met so many amazing people that I now call friends. I enjoy pushing myself with each new season and look forward to learning more and more.”

You have to love a pink front door!

Favorite Rooms

“I don’t really have a favorite room in our home, because I work hard to create cozy in every space, but if I had to choose, it would be our small kitchen.  Entertaining family and friends is a favorite past-time, and like most people, we find ourselves hanging out in the kitchen. We painted the oak cabinets white about four years ago and I have never looked back.  That was the best decision, paint truly is magic! Last year, we were able to update the countertops, add a farm sink, and incorporate a backsplash.  The updates made a huge difference in the overall aesthetic and we love it!”

Kitchen BEFORE

Kitchen AFTER!

What a difference and as you can see Martha is a big fan of PINK and BLUE!

Favorite DIY Projects

“Three years ago, I re-purposed the playhouse my dad built for our daughters over twenty years ago into my she-shed. It quickly became a favorite space to decorate and brings me oodles of joy”

“My second favorite DIY is the wood accent wall in our master bedroom. The wood is original tongue and groove from an old barn on my parent’s farm that originally belonged to my grandparents.”

“And finally, another favorite DIY’s is the open industrial shelving we did as my pantry. My pantry, laundry area, and mudroom all share the same tiny space. The spot where my pantry shelves are now used to house a salt tank for soft water and a water heater. We relocated those items in order to give me a little more storage for pantry items. I was using a larger  kitchen cabinet, but it wasn’t ideal.”

“Our home has lots of room for more updates and I look forward to the changes that will take place over time!”

I love that their home is about important, binding things like the wood from the grandparents/parent’s farm. That’s love! It’s so great for our children to grown up with those important reminders of who came before us and contributed to the loveliness of our lives.

Your home looks like a place anyone can feel welcome and comfortable and restful when they walk in the door because you have made it so soothing and easy on the eyes. Well done!

    Blessings,
    Teresa

  10. Martha, do you have a blog about redoing your kitchen? I am currently getting estimates on new counters and sink. Do you have a source for your sink? Is your cupboard 33 inches? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Vicky

  11. What a sweet cottage home. I love her style. Love seeing smaller places and how they are decorated. Love her she shed. I miss mine. Happy Sunday. Have a good week ahead.

  13. I love this house so cosy with soft throws everywhere. Beautiful!

  14. I am usually not a huge “pink” fan, but this house has changed my mind! I think it’s beautiful. I am curious whether your hubby cares for all the pink? I think it is so soft and so comforting to look at, that it must be wonderful to live there. I have never seen pink cushions anywhere on my travels. Would love to know where you found them..

    1. Same here Colleen…but this is a home tour and not my house. She does have a hubby, lol!

  15. What a beautiful home and she shed! It’s so warm & cozy. I love the pink accents on everything. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We look forward to seeing more!❤️

    1. Glad that you enjoyed the post Lori. Makes me want a she shed around here! xo

  16. What a delightful pretty home! I really loved the casually draped lights with lit snowflakes in one of the bedrooms, and the vase of pink cherry blossoms. I’m assuming they are faux flowers even though they look real. Is there a source for those?… Also the kitchen transformation was so great, and the plants scattered around the home just add so much.
