The Weekly Edit - Shabbyfufu

Wish me luck as today! I’m off to the dentist to finish up what is hopefully the last of work I’ve been having done. I’ve been going to the same dentist since my early 20’s and some of those old fillings had to go. Today is my last crown and I’m not really feeling like a queen after all of this 😉.
I finally purchased a new vehicle last week since I’ve been driving a 21 year old 2 seater convertible for about 5 years now and it was time to let that baby go. So it’s been crazy busy around here and I’ve had no time really for social media like Instagram and Facebook but will get back to that soon.

DESIGN DIGEST

Our kitchen is close to the finish line and I’m hopeful that by the end of February it will be done (minus the new fridge)! It’s sure handy to have my own extremely talented general contractor (aka: the husband) who is so good at organizing this delicate dance of a full remodel. Here are some in-process shots and more coming soon!

Our countertops were installed and everything went great! We were able to utilize some of the old quartz to repurpose and had to purchase just one slab. For the  stools I got the classic Ballard Design countertop stools in a green shade, a surprise color for me! I plan on changing out the fabric on the seats for a blue/green pattern and have a few in mind. Oh…notice the coconuts? We just had our trees trimmed and I asked the guys to save me a few, haha!

kitchen renovation in process

Our tile guys have slowly been installing the backsplash and again, I’m using the same as our previous kitchen! It’s a Carrara White Honed Marble from Bedrosians and after being sealed it wears so well! The hole is for where our hood fan will vent to the outside. I can’t wait to show you the hood fan!

And one more quick shot…the pantry door. More on what we did here (all DIY) coming your way soon!

Other than that, I’m currently shopping for essentials and one of those necessities for me is an anti-fatigue kitchen mat. This one is just the right blue colorway and OMG they are not your mama’s kitchen mats any longer! I might add a bit more color and go with this pretty mat instead. Final choice is this cute Martha Stewart Lemon Mat that is giving me some springy feels. What do you think?

I’m also planning on being very organized in the new kitchen then I have been in the past. We ordered custom cabinets but did not opt for inserts to save on cost. I will definitely need a flatware organizing insert like this expandable one, or this other option that’s currently on sale. I’ll be doing a post soon once I’ve set the kitchen up properly and talking all about what I’ve ordered!

FASHION FAVORITES

This week I thought that I’d share 5 fashion and beauty brands that I’ve ordered from for myself and my husband! One of them I’m sure that you’re familiar with and that is Coach. I have a slight (maybe more than slight) handbag obsession and generally stick to my favorite brands. The Willow Should Bag In Colorblock is perfectly classic and one that I have in black. Coach also has a Valentines Day section with lots of hearts for gifting (or for you!), as well as a sale page with many of their winter bags and shoes nicely discounted.

Along the same lines of handbags that I have in my closet is Kate Spade. Did you know that they have this separate Kate Spade Surprise website with the best of sales? If you’re like me and love blush pink in fashion, the Love Shack section makes it easy! The Audrey Crossbody handbag makes for a small accent of blush, which is perfect when you wear mostly black and white as I do. If you’re looking for a spring gift, the Bun Bun Bunny Mini Pendant Necklace is sweet as can be!

BEST OF BEAUTY

Ulta has some great ideas for Valentines Day beauty and you can shop Ulta online, not just in store. I’ve been using MaeLove Glow Maker Serum for several years now and it’s part of my daily regimen. It features Vitamins C, E, Ferulic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid and it really does make your skin glow. There are over 12,000 reviews and I’m not alone in my love for this serum! I’m serum crazy over here because they are effective and don’t leave your skin greasy. Same with hair and I use Bondi Boost Serum for thicker and stronger hair. It’s really a nice light product and tons of great reviews. If you are looking to preserve your hair this satin pillowcase is a game changer and I have one to keep breakage at bay. Makes for a great Valentines Day gift ❤️ if you have daughters as I do.

I have young adult daughters and for Christmas I purchased them each several items in The Olive & June line. Like this long lasting nail polish and they have lots of positive feedback for this brand! I’m enjoying the fast drying polish and the colors are delicious!

Let’s not forget the men in our lives and with Valentine’s Day coming up I thought I’d mention a brand of skincare/body and haircare that my husband uses daily. Check out Every Man Jack and maybe you’ll find a little something for the guys in your life as well ❤️. My husband’s favorite is this shampoo/conditioner that helps prevent dandruff on dry scalp.

 WHAT TO WATCH | READ

Not watching anything too exciting right now (other than Yellowstone) but I’m going to check out Poker Face on Peacock that looks interesting. It stars Natasha Lyonne who has an extraordinary ability to know when someone is lying and investigates crimes she encounters on the road. Great supporting cast as well.

I am currently finishing up reading Lessons In Chemistry (highly recommend!) and about to start The Last Restaurant In Paris. Will let you know about this one.
