Stylish Renovation in this Chicago Home Tour
Welcome back, dear readers! For this week’s home tour, we are exploring a stunning residence and I’m certain you’ll love just as much as I do!
Balancing the historical charm of the home with a modern touch, the design team at Amy Storm & Company tackled this Chicago home renovation beautifully. While respecting the stunning historic detail, the rooms were brought up to date with an elegant style that feels both traditional and contemporary.

The interiors of this home are packed with unique details that blend seamlessly with the home’s traditional allure with a more modern style.
In the main living room, the historic fireplace is the focus point with the rest of the room designed to complement it.
The deep brown of the antique wood panel is echoed in the leather armchairs and accent decor pieces, helping to keep visual balance.
Deep emerald green pops here and there with the use of throw pillows and greenery.
The bay window next to the living room creates another charming spot in the home, with a baby grand piano and a lush lounge chaise lounge.
Anchoring the style of this home is the color scheme. A mix of black, navy, white, gray, and browns create a refined look throughout the home while metallic details add an elegant shine.
In the family room, we can see this color play in action.
A mix of monochromatic shades, dramatic black and dark blue accent pieces, and other sleek decor accents define the design of this sophisticated room.
Elements like a bespoke navy wine bar, a dramatic charcoal fireplace with complementary armchairs in leather, and gray sofas topped with a pretty blue throw pillow.
With this combination of elements, you get a feel of modernity and sophistication while still fitting into the traditional style.
Facing the family room, we can see how beautifully this plays out in the kitchen design.
Sleek kitchen fixtures pair with classic off-white cabinetry and cool-toned brown accents, like the stunning kitchen’s island.
While neutral and modern at first glance, there are small colorful details that add texture to the space, like the vintage-inspired runner rug and black wrought lighting fixtures.
The dining area is placed right in the middle of this open-concept space, next to the window seats.
Wallpaper featuring watercolor gray illustrations works as a backdrop for the dining room.
Here, we can use a similar color scheme that incorporates more texture and depth. The large rug in cream hues contrasts the hardwood floors beautifully while the furniture is a mix of dark wood and medium gray hues.
How wonderful is this sideboard area?! I love how they paired the cherry blossom branches next to the mirror. It’s a subtle way to introduce natural elements to the space in an elegant way.
And next to the wallpaper, it creates such a stunning arrangement!
From the historic fireplace to the charming dining room and all the little details, I find this home truly beautiful!
