This season brings such an invigorating energy with it, don’t you think? Maybe it’s the change of scenery as the last traces of winter fade away, the extra sunlight, or the warming weather, but this season inspires me to update my interiors and try to capture some of that spring beauty inside my home.

As you know, I’m a huge believer in swapping your decor for a seasonal refresh and there’s no easier way to do this than starting with the bedding. It’s a simple yet dramatic way to change the look and feel of any space without going all out with renovation projects.

Just as we shed our bulky coats for breezy sundresses and linen shirts, our homes deserve the same seasonal experience. Changing your bedding is one of the easiest and most impactful ways to transition your living spaces into spring. It can instantly elevate your home’s look, usher in a refreshed feel, and embrace the vibrant energy of springtime.

Elevate Your Home This Season With Fresh Spring Bedding

In this post, we’ll go over the best spring bedding fabrics, expert tips on caring for fresh spring linens, and some spring bedding inspiration. Plus, I’m sharing some of my favorite bedding pieces for spring you can find right now!

Prep & Prime Your Room

My first recommendation is to prep your room. How? Do a deep clean! I’ve written a step-by-step guide on how to go about it. Click HERE to read.

You should also make sure your mattress and pillows are in top shape by flipping if necessary, adding a mattress protector, or considering a mattress pillow topper.

Clean & Store Your Winter Bedding

As the weather warms, it’s time to store away the heavy winter bedding and lighten things up for spring. For an easy spring bedding transition, start by removing all those heavy winter layers like flannel sheets, wool blankets, and thick comforters. Make sure to clean them and pack them up in appropriate storage until next year.

This simple step clears the way for fabrics more suited to the new season and keeps your winter bedding in prime condition for next year!

Pick The Right Fabric for Your Spring Bedding

While we often first think about the look of pretty bedding options, it’s crucial to think about the feel first.

For spring bedding, focus on lightweight and breathable textiles that feel soft and cool under the touch. Here are some options:

  • Cotton: One of the most popular options, cotton bedding in a crisp percale or luxurious sateen weave feels crisp and gentle on the skin. It offers breathability and temperature regulation, which makes it a perfect choice for nearly everyone! Plus, cotton’s naturally soft, lived-in feel creates a relaxed look for spring’s laid-back spirit.
  • Linen: Linen is one of my ultimate favorites. Prized for its gentle and textured appearance and breezy feel, linen bedding in classic white or pastel hues epitomizes the effortless elegance of spring. It’s lightweight and soft yet provides just enough cozy warmth on chilly nights.
  • Bamboo: If you prefer something ultra soft and with a decadent feel against your skin, opt for bamboo! Bamboo bedding is incredibly breathable and moisture-wicking to keep you blissfully cool and dry.
  • Lyocell/Tencel: These fabrics may not be the first thing that springs to mind when thinking about bedding options, but these textiles made of wood-pulp mimic the look and feel of cotton and silk. The advantage is that they often feel much much softer with just as good breathability quality. They also drape beautifully with a soft, almost shimmery look!

Update Your Space With Seasonal Hues & Patterns

The best way to elevate your space for a fresh spring look is to mimic the blossoming hues and patterns from the season! Think bold botanical motifs, painterly florals, and organic geometrics.

Apply the same concept for color palettes. Build your bedding around nature’s new springtime hues, but make sure the colors and motifs you go for are in tune with the overall decor of your room and home. If you’re unsure, I always recommend keeping the basics neutral and adding bold and eye-catching pops of color in decorative accents.

The Power of Pillows and Throws

No spring bedding refresh would be complete without pillows and throws! Pillows are the star players when it comes to spring bedding, so you want to aim for a curated yet varied mix of sizes, shapes, patterns, and textures. You can play with stripes in different sizes and colors, mix bold and delicate floral patterns, and use solid colors to balance the composition.

Also, don’t forget to include throw blankets and shams to anchor the look, along with your duvet. Go bold with a shade that makes your bed the focal point, or stick to a classic neutral for easy styling versatility.

With thoughtful layering of beautifully designed bedding, decorative pillows, and textured throws, you can elevate your space into a Pinterest-worthy bedroom!
